Experience Historic Worship
Join us Sundays at 11am ET/10am CT for reverent, historic liturgical worship. Most of our worship is chanted or sung from The Lutheran Hymnal (1941). We speak God’s own Word from Holy Scripture and hear it echoed back to us.
We faithfully deliver the means of grace and administer the Sacraments according to historic Lutheran tradition. The Eucharist is celebrated weekly at Christ The King.
Our church subscribes to the 1580 Book of Concord, as a faithful exposition of Holy Scripture. Our members affirm the inerrant teachings of Holy Scripture and their faithful exposition found in Luther’s Small Catechism (1943).
About Us
Rooted in tradition, we faithfully share the pure Gospel, celebrate the Sacraments and worship using the historic Lutheran liturgy and the one-year lectionary every week.
It is our belief that living far from a major metropolitan area should not mean that historic orthodox worship is unavailable to you. Serving our rural area, we seek the lost and those wandering without a church they can call home.
There is much beauty in orthodox liturgical worship. We welcome you to come and experience it for yourself. Worship is not passive entertainment. It is God’s service for us, providing forgiveness and reconciliation through His means of grace in the Divine Service using His own words, as found in Holy Scripture.
Because Holy Scripture tells us that unity within the body of Christ is crucial (1 Corinthians 1:10), Christ The King practices closed communion. Please speak with the Pastor or Deacon prior to coming to the altar for the Lord’s Supper.
Location
We are located in Bryant, AL and we worship at the Bryant Ruritan. We welcome everyone in the surrounding TN/AL/GA area to join us in worship each Lord’s Day at 10am CT/11am ET.

Why independent?
We are a small, independent Lutheran church in order to remain faithful to the doctrine of the Bible and the Book of Concord without the leaven of entanglements and political machinations of other church bodies that often accompany their false doctrines and faithless practices.
One need not look very hard to find the leaven of false doctrines and faithless practices leading to eventual apostasy within every large modern church denomination. This leaven spreads rapidly in an environment where truth is not valued above power. Every large modern church denomination manages hundreds of millions of dollars received not just from local church offerings and tithes, but also government grants for church-affiliated NGOs, business enterprises such as denominational publishing houses, and countless other revenue streams. In the face of this enormous wealth and power, the truth cannot prosper. Rather, it will be destroyed with a religious fervor that should be set aside for Christ alone.
